THE FROG GARDEN
The Frog Garden is a 40 by 20 foot garden in Cleveland, OH completely dedicated to frogs and toads! With a total of three ponds. Two of those ponds are connected with a river to circulate the water and keep it nice and fresh! The third pond functions as an American Toad nursery. Rescued eggs from drying up vernal pools are relocated here, along with eggs laid in our larger pond because of the big fish who would love to eat them up. Large leafy plants give the amphibians plenty of places to hide. No fertilizer or pesticides are used, and natural bark is used as mulch. The Frog Garden is a small sanctuary for native North American amphibians.
Seven generations of toads have been born within these ponds. Each year, roughly 20 male American Toads come here in search of a mate. Many stay year-round making the garden a hopping spot for toads!
The garden is constantly growing and evolving. It is a pleasure to watch nature at it’s rawest state in the Frog Garden.
